Programs & Services Provided
There are a variety of services the International Association of Minority Veterans (I*AMV*VETS) provides to military service members, veterans, and family members in Onslow County and surrounding counties. Those services include VA compensation, pension claim services, assistance with discharge upgrades, active-duty transition counseling, veteran family advocacy, homeless veterans program/housing referral assistance, music/garden therapy, Peer Support Specialist (PSS), and NC SOAR Worker: SSI/SSDI benefits. These services are designed to ensure that military service members and veterans receive the support they need to transition back to civilian life and access the benefits and resources they have earned through their service. By taking advantage of these services, military service members and veterans can receive the support they need to live healthy and fulfilling lives after their service.
The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) also provides a range of services, including counseling and support for mental health issues, disability compensation, education and career resources, and healthcare benefits.
Check with your state of residence. They have their own programs and resources for veterans.

Disability, Pension, Vocational rehabilitation and employment
Active Duty Transitioning Counseling
a range of healthcare benefits to eligible veterans, including preventative care, primary care, and specialty care. These benefits are provided at no cost or low cost to eligible veterans.
Veteran Family Advocate
Veterans who have service-connected disabilities may be eligible for vocational rehabilitation and employment services, including job training, resume development, and career counseling.
Discharge Upgrades
These are just a few examples of the compensation and pay services available to military veterans. It's important for veterans to explore their options and determine which benefits they are eligible for based on their service history and needs.
Veterans Treatment Court
Specialized court program that provides treatment and support to veterans who have become involved in the criminal justice system as a result of substance abuse, mental health issues, or other challenges related to their military service. Non-profit organizations may offer various services to support Veterans Treatment Courts.
NC Department of Corrections Community Service Transition Program
We also offer counseling and mental health services to veterans participating in treatment courts. This can include individual and group therapy sessions, substance abuse treatment, and support for managing PTSD or other mental health conditions related to military service.

Food Program
We are pleased to assist with providing food boxes to veterans and residents in our community.
Youth/Young Adult Color Guard & Mentorship
The Youth/Young Adalt Color Guard and " A DRILL TEAM" had their first presentation during Juneteenth 2011.
Entrepreneur Training
We guide veterans and transitioning service members assistance in pursuing entreprenuership.
Music/Garden Therapy
We partner with Old Dirty 30 farms and maintain a garden. We also are exploring a space for music production understanding music is therepeutic.
